hardwood tree seedlingAFC Baucum Nursery now accepting orders for the 2011 planting season

AFC is offering two new purchase options for 2011 - wildlife and beautification bundles. Both options contain 10 trees (two of five species) for $20. They will be available for pick-up after March 1, 2011. View details.

AFC tree seedlings are grown at Baucum Nursery for one growing season. When the trees become dormant in the fall, they are lifted and packed "bare root" (no dirt on the roots) for shipment to designated cooler locations.

Species available for 2011 are Improved Loblolly Pine, Improved Shortleaf Pine, Cherrybark Oak, Cow Oak, Northern Red Oak, Nuttall Oak, Overcup Oak, Pin Oak, Sawtooth Oak, Shumard Oak, Water Oak, Willow Oak, White Oak, Bald Cypress, Black Gum, Black Walnut, Green Ash, Red Mulberry, Pecan, Persimmon and Sugarberry. Adopt-a-Tree, check out Tree Cookies, find Tree Treasures, ask the question "How big is your tree?" and examine a fallen log. The AFC provides information to kids, teachers and anyone interested in an effort to enhance the understanding of Arkansas's forests.

Arkansas FireWise
Arkansas FireWise staff work with homeowners, community leaders and firefighters to spread information that will enable Arkansans to become more "Firewise" and fire safe when living in or near forested or undeveloped areas.

Protect Your Forest
Wildfire, insects, disease, timber theft, and illegal dumping are potential threats to the health and vigor of your forest. AFC Foresters and Rangers across Arkansas are available to help you protect your valuable forest.
