The AFC grows and sells forest tree seedlings for reforestation.
AFC seedlings are grown at Baucum nursery for one growing season (except for 25 pack Loblolly pine, which are 2 years old). When the seedlings become dormant in the fall, they are lifted and packed "bare root" (there is no dirt on the roots) for shipment to designated cooler locations as indicated below.
The AFC is able to select and grow only the best seed from its Loblolly pine seed orchard. The result is this year's crop of AFC Loblolly pine averages a 39 percent gain in growth. An example of 39 percent gain is:
If 100 acres of unimproved or woods run pine is equal to 100 acres of timber at harvest, then
100 acres of 39 percent genetically improved pine would equal 139 acres of timber at harvest.
Terms and Conditions
- Loblolly Pine - minimum order 25:
- Shortleaf Pine - minimum order 500:
- Hardwood - minimum order 25.
- The Arkansas Forestry Commission will not plant your seedlings. Visit our online Forestry Vendor directory to find a tree planter in your area.

- If you cancel your order before December 1, we will refund the purchase price.
- Full payments must accompany all seedling orders less than 100,000 pine or 50,000 hardwood. Delayed payment may be allowed for larger orders. Bills will be sent after final seedling delivery. Full payment for larger orders is required within 30 days of billing date. Overpayment errors of $10 or less will not be refunded.
- If you do not order online, mail orders to the Arkansas Forestry Commission, 3821 West Roosevelt Road, Little Rock, AR 72204. (Seedling Order Form PDF)
Forest tree seedlings must be handled carefully from the time they are lifted at the nursery, until they are transplanted. Download a PDF version of our Seedling Care and Planting Guidelines for directions to properly plant bare root tree seedlings.

Tree Seedling Prices
All orders must be made using units and prices as listed below for each species. If one single species is ordered in quantities of more than 1,000, the price is equal to the price per thousand. For example, 1,500 loblolly pine costs $60.00. That is $40/1,000 plus $20.00 (one half of the price per thousand).
If the order is for several different species, only those species with quantities over 1,000 receive the price break. Those species ordered in quantities less than 1,000 will be charged the price for the minimum order. For instance, an order for 1,000 loblolly pine and 500 shortleaf pine will cost $70. That is, $40 for the loblolly and $30 for the shortleaf. An order for 1,000 Bald Cypress plus 500 Shumard oak would cost $350: Bald Cypress at $200 per 1,000 and Shumard oak at $30 per 100.
Hardwood seedlings are now available for purchase in quantities of 25 for $20. This option has been made available for the purchase of small quantities per species, and is not intended as an option for orders of more than 100 seedlings. As a result, the pricing structure for orders of more than 100 seedlings would be different than the pricing for multiples of 100. For instance, an order of 150 Cherrybark oak seedlings would be $70. ($30 for 100 seedlings and $40 for the additional 50 seedlings).
Two-year-old Loblolly pine is now available for purchase in quantities of 25 for $20. This option has been made available for the purchase of small quantities of this species for specialized uses (i.e., fence rows), and is not intended as an option for orders of large quantities for reforestation. Due to the size, these seedlings cannot be planted with the use of a dibble bar or mechanized planters.
